Close-up card magic doesn't get any more direct than this:
A spectator names a card.
A deck is spread between the magician's hands, and the named selection is seen face-up among the rest of the face-down cards.
The spread is then raised, revealing every other card in the pack to be blank.
David Regal's latest close-up winner comes complete with the specially prepared Bicycle deck and detailed, photo-illustrated instructions.
A cased deck of cards is shown and it is pointed out that each card has two holes drilled right through the centre. Any card is selected and signed. The card is placed back in to the deck and the deck is cased. A ribbon is now threaded through one of the holes while a bolt is pushed through the other. The bolt is secured with the nut to ensure no card can escape. The whole set up is now place under a hank and immediately the chosen card is removed from under the hank.
All the other cards are still held in place with the bolt and ribbon.
This is an easy to perform effect that packs a big impact and is ideal for walk-around, table, kids or parlour settings.

At any time during his close-up act, the magician freely displays a deck of cards and ribbon-spreads them, showing them to be completely authentic. He then gathers the cards and places them inside an empty steel frame that resembles the famous Zig-Zag Illusion.
The magician removes the front and rear cards, explaining that they will act as blades. Pushing the cards (blades) completely through the deck in the frame, the illusion is almost complete!
For the kicker, the magician slides the middle section of the frame sideways, and the audience is amazed to see three different sections of cards freely displayed--Zig Zag PERFECTED!
The entire process is reversed and the cards are taken back out of the miniature illusion and shown freely and completely unharmed. Way cool!
