Three spectators are brought on stage and invited to take a traditional Chinese meal in a way they used to do thousands of years ago…
You explain that the ancient Chinese were great mathematicians and believers in numerology. Often numbers were used to help make even the most mundane of choices. Why else would all the items on a Chinese menu be numbered? Hence you explain that you are going to show them how the ancient Chinese would decide what to do when going out for a meal.
One of the spectators is given a small packet of plastic number cards to shuffle. They now choose one person who will be in charge of the menu, while the other two are in charge of setting the amount they will pay for the meal.
The menu is shown as representing the restaurant they will visit. The three spectators are given three cards each and two of them take turns to make up three two-digit numbers.
These two digit numbers are added together to arrive at a total and a decimal point is added to form a price to spend on the meal - but alas! It is incredibly low! £1.65! The prospect of a good meal does not look hopeful!
The third spectator now adds up his three cards to come up with a number, to represent a dish on the menu. When they check out the menu they see that all other menu items are normal, however item number 15 is an 'Eat as much as you like buffet for three people, cost - £1.65.'

Hand your spectator the included daily diary, a checkbook size day planner with the name of a card for each day. They open it to any date they wish, and look at that day's card. Shuffle a deck of blue cards and spread them face up on the table.
The Spectator, without announcing the day, reaches out and pushes their card forward. Slowly turn over the selection, revealing its bright shiny red back!

There are many version of the "Diary" Book on the market, but once you use this method, the spectators will feel they have seen a "Mental Miracle!"
Imagine mailing a package to the person who hired you to perform two days in advance. Instruct them to bring the package with them the day of the performance and not to open it! Bring out the morning newspaper from the day of the performance. Have someone look up the lotto numbers and the DOW. Now, ask for the sealed package you sent, open the package with the knife and have a spectator reach inside and pull out the prediction. The prediction's MATCH!!!
The Knife does all the dirty work for you! You get a gimmicked knife and a regular knife.
A borrowed ring is locked on a 4 digit combination brass lock, the dials are mixed by the magician and the spectator can hold on to the lock while the dials are mixed and spectator can test a few times that the lock cannot be opened. Spectator thought of any 4 digit number and put the numbers on the lock by herself. This proves to be the secret code that opens the lock! Spectator retrieves her ring from the lock in the end. There is no need to force any pre-conditioned numbers such as someone’s year of birth, anniversary or birthday.
You can do either of the following:
1. Ask spectator to name ANY 4 digit number
2. Tell the spectator you are going to project the secret 4 digit number to her mind and have the spectator name it.
3. Have 4 different people name a single number each to form a 4 digit number. (This plays big on stage) Whatever numbers the spectators have chosen, they put the numbers and open the lock with their own hands!

Remember this: Spectators set the chosen numbers on the lock. They open it themselves!
The mentalist shows a little black book filled with nearly 100 different names and addresses of women. The mentalist gives it to a woman in the audience. She opens the book to any page and chooses one of the names on the pages. She shows it to a man and he also chooses a name from the open book.
The mentalist hands a sealed envelope to the woman to be explained later.
The mentalist starts with a single letter. He identifies a random letter and moves swiftly. Without fumbling or pumping, He correctly identifies the addresses, names, and phone numbers chosen by both parties! He even gives the zodiac signs.
Finally, The mentalist explains that he met with the same girl as chosen by the woman! In the envelope are three souvenirs from the previous night out, a cocktail napkin with lipstick print, a swizzle stick from a swanky night club and a matchbook cover. On the cover is written the same number as was selected by the woman!
A BONUS EFFECT
Later in the show, if the mentalist desires, he can know the zodiac sign of the woman who helped him. A simple, yet clever ploy allows for this information to be given without anyone knowing, all while the first effect is taking place.
The method based on two old principles, the first letter cue and specialty identifiers combined with a breakthrough system know as the grid means you can know everything without touching the book. It can be examined by anyone and there's never a force.
