Q. The Grail is the first in a new line of Gold Edition effects. What is a Gold Edition effect?

Every Alakazam Effect which carries the Gold Edition mark will have a number of new routines/bonus footage that never appeared with the first version!

The Grail Gold Edition now contains the following new material:

The Holy Grail

This is the version of the Grail that Peter Nardi has been performing for over 2 years (this version totally blew David Blaine away when Peter performed it for him).

Imagine handing your spectator a small black envelope which they are instructed to place in their pocket. A packet of cards are introduced and your spectator is asked to name a number between 1-52. Whichever number they name (no force) is the number we go with. The cards are removed from the deck and handed to the Spectator to examine. Once your spectator is happy the deck is normal they count through the cards to their chosen number. The card exactly at their number (not the card before or after) is seen to be lets say the 3 of clubs. Your spectator removes the envelope from his pocket and removes the odd backed card inside, it’s the perfect match.

5. No switching of card or envelope.

Peter Nardi’s Two Person Any Card At Any Number?

This is the ideal version to perform for a competition piece, parlour performance or when ever you have a table to perform on. Peter uses this as a sit-down routine when he has a couple to perform to.

Two decks of card are introduced, One red and one blue. One spectator selects a deck and chooses a card sight unseen. The second spectator names a number between 1-52 and deals down to that number in the other deck. Both cards match!

This is a real nailer and really plays big with a fantastic connection/coincidence premise!

if you haven't already got his...WHY NOT???... This is the best caan EVER. I use this daily. It's an impossibility that can happen in the spectators hand...so easy to perform, the spectator can even count down to there freely chosen number!!...this is a must in ANY workers performance . You have to buy this, it is sooooooooo easy to preform and your audience will have no explanation for what has just happend. It is 99.9% self working and the part you play happens before you even start doing anything with the cards, this has to be one of the simplest card tricks out there but also one of the best card tricks out there. Beautiful trick. Dvd is very clear and there are so many different variations. The beauty of this trick is you can just about use the deck after you have finished this trick without having to replace any cards. Definitely on trick no magician should be without. Question: As well as the mis-indexed queens, do you supply the extra regular duplicate queens, and do you also supply the duplicate cards required for the other demo versions. (i.e. the 5 of hearts and/or the 9 of spades.)
Answer: you receive all you would need to do nay of the versions.

I've just received the Grail Jumbo deck.
I had the Grail and seeing your demo of Grail gold, I was expecting 2 x 2 repeated Queens and I could use the double index Q from my former Grail
Instead I got in my Jumbo deck 4 x 5H
Is it a mistake or do you place 5H at 12-24-36-48 position and your prediction is a regular 5H?

Answer: yes you place the 4 additional cards in positions 12 24 36 48 then you proceede as per handling on grail gold dvd

Answer: yes you will receive everything you need to perform the original (you supply deck) plus the updated handling

1. There are two demo videos - is the video that has two performances ,the 'Gold' Edition' and the video with one performance the original 'Grail'?

2. Could the prediction be written on the back of a business card and the same business card be kept by the spectator to keep as a gift?

3. Can the spectator reveal the prediction in every scenario of the effect.

Answer: Yes there is some mathh involved but it is very simple

Question: can the deck be examined
Answer: the deck can have a cursory examination, but nothing too in-depth. when I perform this effect I hand it out to have a look through, but it is just to show they are all mixed up and different.

I have been doing Boris Wild's ACAAB on stage with great success, but 'The Grail' seems to involve less handling.

Is it correct that NO handling of the deck is required after the number is selected - regardless of which number that is?

Answer: There is some handling that is required sometimes when the effect is performed, but it is so minimal that this flies past spectators.

Question: I'm sorry Peter - some further clarification please:

* Could 'The Grail' be adapted for use in a strolling environment, with the cards being counted onto the magician's, or a spectator's, hand?
* Are there any angle issues which could be a problem doing strolling magic (where spectators, of course, often are next to or behind the magician)?

Answer: you could adapt it to walkaround and there are no angle issues. It would take some audience management to make sure that they don't accidentally drop the cards as you can have them holding quite a few sometimes when performing it.
